Carmel Benson’s work combines figurative and abstract, explores integration and isolation, space and enclosure, collective and individual.

Learn about Carmel’s inspirations and influences, see how themes of childhood and nature brings through a strong use of colour, light, and playful perspective.

About the Artist

Carmel Benson graduated from University College Dublin and Dún Laoghaire College of Art and Design, majoring in painting and printmaking. She joined the Graphic Studio Dublin where she later became a director. She was a lecturer in print at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology from 1985 – 1999 when she resigned and moved to Co. Wicklow where she now lives and works as a full time artist.
