Introduction to picture book illustration and layout.
Location: Redwood Art School, 1 Northumberland Ave. Dún Laoghaire.
Brian will demonstrate his approach to working with a picture book manuscript to create sketches for a dummy book. Followed by a workshop.
All you’ll need is a pencil and an A4 layout pad / paper.
Bring along any medium you like to work with. If you have a story you’d like to work on then bring it along.
If not we can work one up on the day.
Brian Fitzgerald is an author and illustrator of children’s picture books.
Winner at the Gradam Réics Carló Awards for kids 2024, The International Silent Book Competition at Bologna 2014 and The White Raven Award 2025.
Brian’s first book as author and illustrator is ‘Bunny’s Most Fabulous Vacation Ever’ and was published by Red Comet Press in Brooklyn & Scallywag London.
One of his books: ‘Be Thankful For Trees’, was added to the Unites States Kindergarten curriculum last year.
Latest picture book publications include: ‘Oíche Mhaith a Ghra!’ + ‘Ferdinand chien volant’ + ‘Little Irish History Heroes’ + ‘Taking The Long Way Home’.
