In our ever-expanding Artist Talks series, ArtNetdlr invites one of Ireland’s leading figurative painters – Blaise Smith.

About the Artist

Blaise Smith is a figurative painter who has exhibited widely in Ireland and abroad, best recognized for his realist landscapes, portraits, and still lives. Smith has been commissioned to paint many notable portraits. His group portrait “8 Scientists” for the Women on Walls Campaign won the 2017 US Council/Irish Arts Review Portraiture Award. In 2017 his portrait “My Parents” was runner up in the National Gallery’s Zurich Portrait Prize.

Elected as full member of the Royal Hibernian Academy in 2015 he teaches advanced oil painting techniques and drawing and composition at the RHA Drawing School. He has had numerous solo shows and his work is held in many Public and Private Collections.
